Yoonjeong Park

Yoonjeong Park is an accomplished pianist and composer with a lifelong passion for music. Her journey began at the age of five, inspired by her mother, a dedicated music teacher, and her father, who often sang hymns, fostering a deeply musical environment at home. Originally from South Korea, Yoonjeong began her professional career in her early twenties, gaining extensive experience in Christian contemporary music. She made significant contributions as a composer and performer, enriching various musical settings from worship services to live performances. Her compositions have also been featured in musicals, radio commercials, and video games, while her live performances have established her as a versatile keyboardist.

Yoonjeong’s dedication to her craft led her to Berklee College of Music, where she was awarded the prestigious North America Tour Scholarship for four consecutive years. At Berklee, she majored in Jazz Composition and minored in Pop and Jazz Music Theory, with a focus on Jazz Piano. Her true passion lies in her love for music as a whole, beyond any single genre. During her time at Berklee, she played an essential role in the institution, serving as a pianist for rating auditions and aiding in the assessment of various instrumentalists. She also contributed as a Core Music tutor and played a significant role in the City Music Academy. For three years, she worked as an accompanist in the Vocal Department, collaborating with numerous vocalists and honing her skills across a wide range of musical settings.

Yoonjeong had the privilege of studying under some of the most renowned figures in jazz education, including Joanne Brackeen, Hal Crook, Shamie Royston, Greg Hopkins, Steve Rochinski, Jackson Schultz, Ayn Inserto, Robert Christopherson, and Vadim Neselovskyi. Their mentorship played a key role in shaping her into the artist she is today.

After graduating from Berklee, Yoonjeong continued her academic and artistic journey at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), where she pursued a Master’s degree in Jazz Piano Performance. There, she refined her craft under the guidance of Andy Langham and Jeff Jarvis.

Currently, Yoonjeong is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), studying with Dave Loeb. Her outstanding academic and musical achievements have been recognized with several scholarships, including the Joe Williams Memorial Scholarship, the Jay Morrison Jazz School Scholarship, and the Michael Patrick Keller Scholarship, which she received for her exceptional GPA.

In addition to her studies, Yoonjeong is a dedicated educator, serving as a part-time jazz piano instructor at UNLV, where she nurtures and inspires undergraduate students. She is also preparing to publish her first book on improvisation, reflecting her deep commitment to sharing her knowledge with others.

Driven by a desire to share something beautiful with the world, Yoonjeong continues to study music to make the world a better and warmer place. Her journey is marked by a deep love for music in all its forms and a desire to create and teach in a way that emphasizes collaboration over competition. Her diverse experiences, from Christian contemporary music in Korea to jazz education in the United States, have shaped her into a versatile and passionate musician.
